Winter 2017/18 Newsletter

2017 has been a busy year for us, we have increased our events and day trips by seven compared to last year, with trips including:

  • Thetford Forest Tour
  • Midsomer Murder Tour
  • Rutland Water Cruise and Lunch
  • Black Country Museum
  • Ironbridge
  • Amerton Farm & Craft Centre
  • Cinderella Pantomine
  • Murder on the Orient Express Cinema Trip

We have also been running our regular events, such as: party events, lunch clubs, seated excercise class, book club and line dancing.

In terms of fundraising, we recently took part in the Lutterworth Charity Swimfest, held at the Lutterworth Leisure Centre on the 11th of November and run by the Rotary Club of Lutterworth Wycliffe. Alison, Emma, Rosie, Beryl and Laura swam a total of 76 lengths raising £263.00 for the charity and a further 10% was given to the Rotary Club. Personal thanks go to Rosie Page and Beryl Lawrence for raising over £100 and completing so many lengths.

Congratulations to us for winning first place for the third time Most Innovative Christmas Window at the Lutterworth Light Switch On, our theme was using old books representing people’s chapters within their lives. Sometimes, life throws its problems at us, we could be 35, 72, 84 or 90. Whatever your age rewrite your next chapter with us – Age Concern Lutterworth & District beating loneliness and isolation.

We expect this year to be just as busy as last year (if not even busier) and look forward to seeing all our current clients and making new ones. We hope you become involved, whether by attending events, becoming a volunteer, or even just shopping in store. We wish you all a very happy, healthy and busy 2018!
